SecurityNational Enjoys Big Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park

Tooele, Utah (24 August 2015) – Racing at Sloan Urry’s home track, SecurityNational Mortgage had a big weekend at Miller Motorsports Park with a significant marketing activation as well as strength on track. Contending the MOMO GT Cup class of Pirelli World Challenge competition, Urry scored a double podium finish with a run to third on Saturday and then returning to the podium again on Sunday with an encore third place result.

The strong finishes marked Urry’s ninth and 10th podium results of the year in his first season of Pirelli World Challenge MOMO GT Cup competition after showing himself as a race winner in IMSA last year.

The Pirelli World Challenge staged a double header at Miller over the weekend and after qualifying third on the grid for Race 1, Urry converted that into a run to third place with a quickest lap time of 1:55.596-seconds.

“It’s hard to be unhappy with a podium finish, and I think we put on a good show for the hometown crowd and all of our sponsors,” said Urry following Race 1. “The support I’ve had this weekend is unbeatable. SecurityNational Mortgage, Alder and Tweed, Metro National Title and so many others have really stepped up to come and bring a large contingent of guests and make it quite the event so hats off to them. I really appreciate everything they do for me and the team and hopefully tomorrow I can give them a little bit more of what we’re expecting.”

Once again racing in front of a packed house of SecurityNational Mortgage guests, Urry took to the challenging road course for Race 2 on Sunday. The race saw a standing start and though Urry didn’t get the best start off of the line, he made up for it with his experienced driving at the track to once again drive to a podium finish.

“The car was good – it was pretty similar to yesterday,” said Urry. “The TruSpeed guys put a good car under me. I didn’t get the start I wanted, I just bogged down the motor off the line. I had traffic I had to work through after that and it separated me a bit from the leaders. I was really hoping for a yellow to give me a shot to step a little higher on the podium but considering the start I got, I’m pleased to have finished on the podium. Hats off once again to SecurityNational Mortgage, Alder and Tweed, and Metro National Title for just showing me a great amount of support this weekend. I think everyone was very pleased this weekend.”

Urry and SecurityNational will be back in action when the Pirelli World Challenge stages the penultimate rounds of the 2015 championship at Sonoma Raceway next weekend.

Sloan Urry Delivers Another Podium Performance for SecurityNational at Mid-Ohio

Lexington, Ohio (2 August 2015) – Sloan Urry earned his eighth podium result of the year at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course over the weekend as the Pirelli World Challenge staged Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2015 championship. Driving the No. 02 SecurityNational Porsche, Urry delivered a third place finish in Race 1 and followed that effort up with a fourth place result in Race 2 on Sunday.

The standing start for Race 1 was waved off and so the race went green with a single-file restart. Urry took advantage of some shuffling at the drop of the green and moved up from his third place starting spot. As the race settled into a rhythm, he ceded the second place position to his TruSpeed/Kelly Moss teammate Colin Thompson and ran third in line until the finish.

“It was a crazy start – Colin (Thompson) had an issue on the start and everybody spread out so I got a little caught off guard by that,” said Urry. “Brett (Sandberg, TruSpeed teammate) and I were just running nose to tail trying to catch the leaders. After the last restart, our tires were covered in a lot of debris / pick up and all of us were just fighting to stay on the track. We wanted to be pushing up further to the front, but you have to take the podium when you get it.”

Sunday’s race was more of an uphill battle for Urry, as he struggled a bit in the early running with the handling of his SecurityNational Porsche. He ran fifth for the majority of the race as he stayed right on the bumper of Lorenzo Trefethen who ran in fourth.

After a full course caution late in the race, the field was reordered and the first and second place GT Cup cars were put on the lead lap while the remaining GT Cup field was scored a lap down. At that point, the highest position Urry could finish was third and after fighting for fourth lap after lap, he finally got by Trefethen to take the position in the race’s final moments.

“The race didn’t go as planned,” said Urry. “At the start I had a little bit of front end issues with pushing outside the last two corners. Brett (Sandberg) got by me in Turn 1 and Lorenzo (Trefethen) in Turn 2. The rest of the race I was all over Lorenzo and he was chopping me all over. I was much quicker than he was, so I was a little frustrated with that. I ended up getting by him and finishing fourth which is a respectable finish, but not where I wanted to be today.”

Urry will next be in Pirelli World Challenge action at his home track of Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 21-23.

“All in all it was a good weekend and we’ll look forward to getting to the next event,” said TruSpeed Autosport Team Owner Tyler Tadevic. “We’ll take our fourth place points and go on home and get ready for Miller. I’m a little disappointed in the officiating with the race. After the restart they reordered the field and gave first and second an additional lap. So the best we could go for at that point was third. A big shout out to all of our guests at SecurityNational Mortgage who came out to Mid-Ohio this weekend. I really appreciate everyone coming out and supporting the team. We look forward to some more support from them at our next event in Salt Lake City.”

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course rounds will be televised on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, August 9 at 4:00 PM ET.
