Security National Named Top Place to Work in Large Business Category for 2016

Security National Named Top Place to Work in Large Business Category for 2016

Security National announced today that they were named as a 2016 Top Workplace by the Salt Lake Tribune. The Salt Lake Tribune partnered with Pennsylvania-based WorkplaceDynamics, an employee-research and consulting firm, to determine the region’s Top Workplaces rankings.

The Top Workplaces award recognizes the best organizations as voted by their employees. Beginning in March, The Tribune ran articles and advertisements encouraging employees in the region to nominate companies as Top Workplaces. WorkplaceDynamics invited those companies, as well as other organizations in the region, to participate in the program.

Anyone could nominate a company. The only requirement was that the organization must employ at least 35 people in Utah. The organization could be public, private, nonprofit or governmental.

WorkplaceDynamics invited 899 workplaces to participate and surveyed 97 of them. Only those organizations that agreed to participate were included in the surveys. The surveyed firms employ 29,546 people in Utah. Of those employees who received questionnaires, 20,624 responded, either on paper or online.

“Our motto here at Security National is Excellence.” Says CEO of Security National Scott Quist. “I like to think it’s not excellence because someone is looking over my shoulder, or someone else’s shoulder. I like to think it’s excellence because that’s what I do, that’s me, that’s what I get up to do.”

Excellence defines the company’s culture and business model. With over five decades of experience, Security National has purposefully created and nourished a corporate culture that helps consumers and inspires employees to emphasize innovation, quality, and success. Security National’s culture has been embraced by a growing team of employees across the nation.

As part of this commitment, Security National has pioneered many innovative practices to ensure that this culture translates into long-term business value, including a selection of tools and resources, training, award winning marketing services, competitive compensation, full benefits, gym reimbursement, and vacation policy so employees enjoy a healthy work-life balance. Employees also participate in activities and charities that allow the company and employees to give back to their communities.

“Security National’s success is driven by the amazing people that make up our business, including our employees, customers, and partners,” said Steve Johnson, President at Security National. “Our culture has defined our company and our performance, and has created an environment where our employees have success. It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a Top Workplace in Utah, and I am pleased to share the award with everyone who makes Security National an exceptional company.”

Security National receives award for Green Mortgages at the 2016 Green Business Award

Security National receives award for Green Mortgages at the 2016 Green Business Award

Salt Lake City, UT (November 17, 2016 – SecurityNational Mortgage Company, a leading provider in home mortgages, was recently recognized for loan innovation at the 2016 Green Business Awards. The event honors the best green practices and efforts in the state, recognizing companies, communities and individuals who are making strides in environmental sustainability.

As an award recipient, Security National was recognized as a top mortgage lender for providing loan options for High-Performance or Net-Zero homes. The company was profiled in the recent issue of Utah Business magazine and honored at a luncheon at the Grand America Hotel.

Green homes are becoming the building standard of the future. These high-performance homes self-generate all or most of the power they consume with upgrades such as; solar panels, rainwater harvesting, high-performance building materials, electric vehicle infrastructure, gray water recovery, geo-thermal heating/cooling, wind power systems, and more.

“The challenge with high-performance homes has been properly recognizing green upgrades and being able to include upgrade costs into the value of a home.” said David Bollard, National Director of Marketing at SecurityNational Mortgage Company.

Loan officers from Security National help to ease or eliminate some of those challenges through green premium mortgages. The company has systems that help consumers get recognition for these type of upgrades.

“Home owners want eco-friendly solutions and energy efficiency is the way of the future. We believe SecurityNational Mortgage has their finger on the pulse and we want to be that top-tier mortgage lender,” said Bollard.

SecurityNational Mortgage Company to be honored for Innovation at the 2016 Utah Green Business Awards

Salt Lake City, UT – SecurityNational Mortgage Company, a leading provider in home mortgages, announces they will be recognized for innovation at the 2016 Utah Green Business Awards.

The Utah Green Business Awards program honors the best green practices and efforts in Utah, recognizing companies, communities and individuals who are making strides in environmental sustainability. Each finalist and award recipient will be profiled in the October issue of Utah Business magazine and honored at a luncheon in October at the Grand America Hotel.

“For homeowners wanting to build or renovate their homes to utilize some of the market’s green features, it can be tough to get their money’s worth. Security National has sought to ease or eliminate some of those frustrations through its specially designed green premium mortgages, which help those eco-friendly upgrades be recognized in the value of the home,” said David Bollard, Marketing and Creative Director for SecurityNational Mortgage.

Part of those efforts are in helping appraisers understand the value features like solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and other measures bring to a home verses neighboring properties without those amenities. ““Energy efficiency is the way of the future, and we feel like at SecurityNational Mortgage we have our finger on the pulse and we want to be that top-tier mortgage lender,” said Bollard.

SecurityNational also seeks to be green itself—its currently building a new corporate campus in Murray, Utah that will have a number of eco-friendly features. “That philosophy of being a green lender, we’ve adopted that into the way we operate corporately.”

Urry’s Victories and Consistency Secure Second Place in GT Cup Championship

Urry’s Victories and Consistency Secure Second Place in GT Cup Championship

Sloan Urry’s drive leads to tightest battle of the weekend at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway

Scores five victories in 2016 and secures second in the Porsche GT Cup Championship

Salt Lake City, UT  (October 12, 2016) – Sloan Urry wrapped the 2016 Porsche GT Cup Championship with a phenomenal drive, narrowly missing the victory by just six-tenths of a second over Corey Fergus. It was a nose-to-tail battle as Urry challenged the Rookie every race lap. The race featured three caution periods for on-track incidents, a total of 10 laps. The final caution came in the closing laps, presenting a green-white-checker challenge at the end. Laguna Seca is a technical circuit featuring steep elevation changes and 11 tight turns which make it known as one of the most difficult courses for passing. Urry stayed tight on the tail of Fergus’s #00 Porsche 911 and masterfully set-up the pass each lap as they exited turn 11 onto the front straight, but Fergus’s powerful new Porsche engine was strong, and he was able to pull just enough gap onto the straight to prevent the overtake.

“I had a great battle with Corey every green lap and I am really happy for him getting his first win.” Urry continued, “It was close, I probably played it a little safe, but we brought the car home in good condition and we’ve locked up our championship position. It was a good race, and it’s always nice to bring home a podium for our team and partners.”

Urry’s consistency all season secured second in the GT Cup Championship last month at the penultimate round at Sonoma Raceway, but Sunday’s performance earned him an additional 98 points, bringing his season total to 1937, just 34 points behind the title winner Alec Udell, and 334 points ahead of third place finisher Corey Fergus. “Alec and Corey pushed me hard all season and we had a lot of great battles, every race was at qualifying pace” said Urry. He tallied five victories and seven pole positions and finished on the podium in 18 of 19 events in 2016.

“It was a good year. I think we have a lot to be proud of. The TruSpeed guys worked hard and always gave me a reliable car. I think I improved in traffic management and took care of the equipment and combined, that led to wins and podiums at every race but one. Ultimately, we didn’t win the Championship and I am disappointed in that, but I am thankful to my team, TruSpeed Autosport, Porsche, and my incredible partners SecurityNational Mortgage and AVASIS. I had the opportunity to meet and race in front of nearly 1000 guests from SecurityNational and AVASIS this year, and that was a real honor.”

Urry was awarded the trophy for his championship finish at the season ending banquet on Sunday.

The final round of the Pirelli World Challenge GT/GTA and GT Cup racing begins broadcasting on CBS Sports Network on Sunday October 16th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. Sloan Urry wraps up successful season

Sloan Urry wraps up successful season

Sloan Urry wraps up his most successful season to date with five victories, including seven pole positions and ten second place finishes. He heads into the final weekend with second place locked up in the GT Cup Championship.

The #20 SecurityNational/Avasis/Porshe 991 driven by Sloan Urry will finish the 2016 season this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California. The racetrack featires 13 turns and a 2.238-mile road course. Live streaming of the race will be available on www.world-challenge.com. You can also follow the race and recive live updates throughout the weekend at www.sloanurryracing.com. The race will be replayed on national TV Oct. 16, 2016 at 3PM EST on CBS SPORTS.

Sloan Urry on Laguna Seca:

“I like this track a lot.  There’s a bit of nostalgia here for me.  This is the place where I inserted myself in to a high level of competition for the first time.  I’d spent a lot of time here when I was first with the TruSpeed team…learning the track and developing my skills.  My favorite section would be the left hander at turn six then up the hill and then the section all the way through the Corkscrew and down through Rainey Curve and turn 10.  It’s tricky but super satisfying to get right and a lot of time can be made there. We’ve struggled with rear grip all season, that will be an issue coming on to the front straight and exiting turn two, so we’ll work hard to remedy that here.

TruSpeed Team Owner Tyler Tadevic on the 2016 season:

“TruSpeed won three championships in the Pirelli Cup Series this year, and of course we had a strong season with Sloan in the PWC GT Cup series.  Sloan had a lot of great victories and strong finishes, and there were some possibilities that didn’t go our way.  It was awesome to watch his continued development as a driver on and off the track.  It’s unfortunate he had the wrist injury in the middle of the season.  Racing with a broken wrist is a huge obstacle, but he overcame it, and despite the pain, he maximized the situation.  I’m really proud of the job Sloan did this year.  Overall, it’s been a good season for TruSpeed.  We’ll look forward to defend our championships in the respective Pirelli Cup series next year with five to seven entries and we’ll be looking to make an announcement over the next 30-60 days on World Challenge program.  I want to send out a huge thank you to all of our partners, SecurityNational Mortgage, AVASIS, Metro National Title, Ironclad, Justice Brothers and Mothers Polishes, Wax and Cleaners.”

Sloan Urry on the 2016 Season

“It’s a bit tough reviewing the season really, because I feel like we’ve left a bit on the table. There have been a lot of great moments, especially the win at home in Utah. It was my first victory at home at a pro-level in front of my sponsors and family. That was awesome. We had a handful of victories and completed every lap except for one mechanical, so that is a testament to the hard work from the TruSpeed guys and keeping it out of trouble on the track. That being said, Alec (Udell) was tough to beat and I don’t think we uncovered every stone we could have. Without question, the low for me this year was the first session at Barber when I realized how difficult it was going to be driving with a broken wrist over the next three events. Finishing the season on a high note with a pole or a win would be great this weekend. We made a lot of strides on the commercial side of our program as well, and I am excited to see the fruit that it bears. SecurityNational Mortgage and AVASIS did an incredible job activating all year, hosting nearly 1000 guests at the track over the course of the season. It’s such an honor to meet these guests, they come to the track pumped and full of support for our team, and they always leave as race fans.”

Sloan Urry Takes First in his Home Town of Utah

Sloan Urry Takes First in his Home Town of Utah

Hundreds of SecurityNational Mortgage guests were on their feet in elation as Sloan Urry made the winning pass just in front of their suite on the front straightway Saturday on a sunny afternoon just outside of his home town in Utah.

Urry took the green flag from the third starting position Saturday afternoon and had an awesome start, quickly passing the race leader Alec Udell.  Despite two yellow-flag caution periods caused by messy accidents in the first 10 minutes of the race, Sloan gapped Udell and it looked like the win was inevitable.  Eventually, Udell managed to return the pass on Urry for the lead.  Determined and driven by his jubilant fans, Urry masterfully hunted down Udell lap after lap, and quickly tightened the gap.  With just ten minutes to go, Urry passed the bright blue Porsche of Udell, executing the game-plan perfectly, and scored his fifth victory of the season, and the first at his home track at the professional level in front of his ecstatic fans and supporters.

Urry started from the first row in today’s race two.  Utah rookie McKay Snow started third and got a jump on the field and quickly took the lead from the green flag, Sloan was third. However, the 4+ mile track now known as the Utah Motorsport Campus is famous for rapid tire wear, and fortunately Sloan is known for his ability to manage his Pirelli’s.  He settled into third position and managed his tire wear while Udell chased McKay.  Eventually McKay’s pace slowed and both Udell and Urry passed him for first and second.  Now the hunt was on and Urry had the pace and the tires to reel in Udell.  Once again Sloan’s supporters could be heard above the sounds of the supercars as he chased Udell down the front straight.  Each lap was faster than the last and most laps were faster than the leader, until his car hiccupped in the final set of turns before the front straight with just seven laps to go.  His day came to an end prematurely due to a fuel pump failure.  The car coasted to the gravel trap at the start of the front straight.  Frustrated by the failure but satisfied with his performance, Urry walked alongside the track and down the front straight back to his pit to the roaring cheer of his local supporters who celebrated him from the suite over the TruSpeed pit.

2016-08-15_17-18-46Sloan on Race One: “My smile says it all.  It’s been a while since I’ve been this happy! To win at home and to win after such an intense battle is just incredibly rewarding.  I had a good start and took the lead but Alec put a lot of pressure on me.  He was on my tail for a while.  Once he got me, there was absolutely no way I was going to let that stick.  I’ve got to thank the TruSpeed Autosport team.  They’ve kept digging and digging this year and they gave me a great car.  There was a huge contingency of my sponsors SecurityNational Mortgage and AVASIS along with friends and family hanging out of the suite on the front straight…that helped power me to the win for sure and I can’t thank them enough for the continued support they give me.”

Sloan on Race Two: “Race two here at Utah Motorsports Campus unfortunately did not go as well as race one.  Unfortunately, I fell back to third at the start of the race but moved up to second and was all over Alec (Udell) for quite a while…preparing for the pass.  Unfortunately, with 10 minutes or so to go we had a fuel pump failure and I had to pull the car off.  It was our first mechanical of the year, and it came at probably the worst time for us, but that’s the way it goes sometimes in racing.  We had fantastic race yesterday and another great battle with Alec today, so I am really pleased about that.  I’ve got to give a huge shout out to SecurityNational Mortgage and AVASIS.  The amount of support here has been amazing the whole weekend.  You can’t walk through the paddock without noticing us, that is a real honor.  Also my team TruSpeed worked super hard this weekend. We were trying a bunch of things in every session and I think we made a lot of progress this weekend.  Our race pace was by far the best of anybody, we just need to work a bit on qualifying.  I am looking forward to Sonoma.”

Sloan Retains Points Lead Despite Challenging Weekend

Sloan Retains Points Lead Despite Challenging Weekend

Sometimes championships come from dominating performances throughout the season and sometimes they are won through consistency.  Sloan Urry returned to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend as the championship leader and despite two performance inhibiting challenges, he remained consistent, he kept his car in-tact and scored enough points to remain on top.

The first challenge for Sloan this week was physical; he fell off his skateboard while riding home from his office last week and injured his left forearm.  He arrived in Alabama with a hard brace but it became obvious after Thursday’s practice session that he would need more support to be able to wrestle his Porsche 991 around the twisty 2.38-mile 15-turn road course.  Concerned about the weekend ahead and protecting the points lead, TruSpeed Autosport race engineer Tim Lewis contacted Olympic boxing coach, Dave Godber.  Godber owns Round One Boxing for Health in Birmingham and his very familiar with the taping techniques required to stabilize injuries for continued competition.  Godber was willing to help and spent the weekend at the track preparing Sloan’s arm for each session, “I’m really grateful to Dave.  His help made all the difference for me this weekend.  I am still in quite a bit of pain, but I might not have been able to compete without his help.”

The second challenge was mechanical.  The behavior of the #20 SecurityNational/Avasis/Porsche 991 changed dramatically from practice on Friday afternoon where Sloan recorded the fast time by a half a second.  Fighting massive oversteer, Sloan’s qualifying time on Saturday morning was slower than his practice times from Friday and in race one on Saturday afternoon, he struggled to keep the car on track. His fastest lap time during the race was two seconds slower than his quickest lap the day before. Despite the challenges, he preserved his equipment and took the checkered flag in third position, earning 90 valuable points.  Frustrated and confused, but committed to excellence, the TruSpeed Autosport team worked until midnight inspecting, rebuilding and replacing many components of the car on Saturday.

Sloan returned Sunday morning for his final race of the weekend hoping to pilot a much improved car, and looking for a victory.  Sloan took the green flag under sunny skies and immediately began to challenge Corey Fergus in the #00 Porsche. The two battled up and down the hills and through the 13 turns throughout the 45-minute race.  With just two minutes to go, Fergus was hit by another competitor and Sloan assumed second position, where he remained until the checkered flag.

Watch the race on CBS Sports next Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4:00pm ET. Next up: Sloan heads North to Canada in May for a double-header at MoSport with a six-point championship lead over Alec Udell.  For more information, visit www.sloanurryracing.com

Sloan Urry: “Corey (Fergus) and I had a great battle throughout the race today.  Unfortunately, he was spun by another competitor. I feel bad for him, but I am happy for the points we scored out there today, and I am happy to push forward in the championship. I am looking forward to going testing soon because we have some gremlins in the car that we didn’t really figure out here.  Luckily we have some time before MoSport to work on that and also for my arm to heal.  Always a big thank you to Avasis, SecurityNational Mortgage and my team TruSpeed for getting us here and able to be a competitive effort.”

Tyler Tadevic: “It wasn’t an easy weekend for us, but I am really proud of Sloan and the TruSpeed guys.  It could have easily gone another way for us but Sloan hung in there and salvaged all the points he could and the boys worked their tails of to improve the car.”

Sloan Urry, SecurityNational Mortgage and TruSpeed AutoSport Return for Championship Bid

Sloan Urry, SecurityNational Mortgage and TruSpeed AutoSport Return for Championship Bid

Salt Lake City, UT – American race car driver Sloan Urry, 24, of Salt Lake City, Utah announced today he will drive the #20 SecurityNational/Avasis/991 Porsche GT in the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge Porsche GT Cup championship.

Urry had a sensational rookie season in World Challenge with TruSpeed AutoSport in 2015. In addition to his 13 podium finishes and second place in the series championship, Urry qualified in the top-three in 85% of the races. He will continue with TruSpeed in 2016 and looks forward to the continuity in his quest for the 2016 series title, “We had a very successful season in 2015, but I am racing to win the championship this year and knowing I have the same ingredients; the same great team with TruSpeed, the same great sponsor and the 2016 Porsche 991 is a great feeling. I feel very well prepared” said Urry.

California based TruSpeed Autosport enters its second season of Porsche GT Cup competition. The team is looking for its second championship, after winning the GT title with Pat Long in 2011. Veteran motorsports team owner, Tyler Tadevic commented on his expectations for the season ahead, “We are stoked to have Sloan back driving for TruSpeed again this year, and we are very proud to have SecurityNational Mortgage and Avasis backing us up. I want to thank them for choosing us as their partners. We are looking forward to a fantastic season,” said Tadevic. He continued, “We were very strong last year, but we left a few cards on the table and we are looking to make up for that this year. We’ve got a great crew at TruSpeed, they’ve been working hard all winter to get us ready for a very strong effort in 2016.”

SecurityNational Mortgage returns as the title sponsor of Urry’s #20 2016 Porsche 991 Cup. Ranked as a ‘Top 50 Mortgage Lender,’ SecurityNational Mortgage uses key elements of its marketing strategy around the motorsports program. SecurityNational Mortgage will activate their program with exciting at-track events in eight race markets, including Miller Motorsports Park where the company expects over 400 guests.

The 2016 Porsche GT Cup championship kicks off this weekend at Circuit of the Americas, a 3.41-mile road course in Austin, Texas. Urry has mastered the 20-turn counterclockwise Formula One circuit in the past, he won there while competing in the IMSA series three years ago, “The green flag can’t come soon enough! COTA is a great track to open the season,” commented Urry. “It’s challenging and it’s fast. There is nothing quite like the 133-foot hill we climb at turn one. I guess it’s the direct opposite of the 109-foot drop at the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca where we’ll close our season. I’m looking forward to it, we had a great car there last year and finished second in both races. I’m certainly racing for two victories this weekend.”

The 19-race championship begins this weekend with a double-header, March 3-6. The race will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, Sunday, March 13th at 10:30am E.T. The race will be shown live at www.world-challenge.com. Live updates from the track will be available online at www.sloanurryracing.com, on Twitter @sloanurryracing and Facebook.com/sloanurryracing.

SNMC Marketing Team wins Top Marketing Award

SNMC Marketing Team wins Top Marketing Award

Congratulations to the SecurityNational Mortgage MARKETING TEAM for being chosen as a SAMY (Sales and Marketing Teams of the Year) award recipient.  Each year ambitious individuals and teams are chosen and given this prestegious honor.

Sam Urie, SAMY Award founder and a former sales/marketing road warrior, applauded the honorees for their often-unsung efforts for their companies, especially amid the digital revolution that has turned the old face-to-face sales.marketing model on its head.

“Despite all of our digital tools, the most successful marketers know that it is still all about relationships. It’s not simply closing a deal and moving on to the next one,” Urie said. “It’s listening to clients, responding to their needs, following up after the transaction and taking the feedback to heart. On the marketing side, it’s understanding who your potential clients are so well that you can identify who they are, and craft messages that will speak directly to their needs and desires.”

The event was emceed by Ninevah Dinha, editor and founder of the e-publication YOU Magazine. Dinha said in her days as a broadcast journalism, she viewed the sales department of the news outlets she worked for with distrust. After founding her magazine, though, she got a crash course in the tricky world of sales and marketing—and gained a new respect for the professions.

“When I worked in news, there was quite a dichotomy between the news side and the sales side,” she said. “When I launched my own business, it’s obviously an entrepreneurial thing. I had to learn the entrepreneurial side of things. I really have a tremendous amount of respect for what you do as sales people.”

“We are honored to have been chosen as a SAMY award winner,” said David Bollard, Marketing Creative Director at SecurityNational Mortgage Company. “Our marketing team focuses on providing the tools, resources and strategy that Security National mortgage loan officers need to be successful. We love what we do and it shows!”
